Bhisho – Following two years of no intake at the Eastern Cape Department of Health’s Lilitha Nursing College, the department has issued a recruitment advert targeting those interested to study Nursing for 2024 intake.

The hiatus of two years’ intake was due to the national South African Nursing Council (SANC) and South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accreditation processes when introducing new qualifications.

The department further confirms the authenticity of the advert in tomorrow’s local newspapers (October 17, 2023/2024) as well the departmental website and Facebook page.

Overview

The department hereby sets the record straight that only adverts published through the official Department of Health social media platforms (Website and Facebook) including adverts in mainstream media, should be deemed official and legitimate.

The Lilitha College is advertising for the Three-Year Diploma in Nursing whilst awaiting finalisation of the accreditation processes by SAQA for One-Year Higher Certificate in Nursing.

The Diploma will be provided in the College’s five main campuses around the province – East London, Komani, Mthatha, Lusikisiki and Gqebherha.

The age limit for the three-year Diploma is 45 years for external candidates with matriculation as an entrance requirement and 55 years for those currently in our employment.

Requirements are a valid grade 12 certificate with aggregate D or E/S (from 750 and above) on the old certificate with
English, Biology (Life Sciences), Physical Science, Mathematics/ Maths Literature, Geography and Life Orientation.

NB: Lilitha College of Nursing Application fees are non-refundable, and all application fees for online applications should be forwarded before the online application closing date for 2023/2024 intake.
